With requests for meet-ups in every state and beyond the USA, Bald Girls is answering the plea for women to find others for community and support. Meet people like you with AA! Meet a phenom professional volleyball player who’s a Bald Girl and alopecia ambassador!

April 15th in Philly, PA and April 21st at Penn State University, PA

We’re hosting a fantastic role model for children and adults with any form of alopecia. Deja can’t wait to meet you in Philadelphia and State College, PA! Bring friends and family to talk with Deja, too!

On April 15 and 21, 2023, professional volleyball player and Bald Girls Do Lunch ambassador, Deja McClendon, will be meeting women and girls with alopecia, friends and family in Pennsylvania.

Deja will be sharing her experiences with alopecia areata – the challenges, the beautiful moments, and everything in between.

We are thrilled to be hosting Deja for two special meet-ups and we can’t wait to see you there!

Plays for Athlete’s Unlimited League in the USA. Has played with Brazil’s Itambé Minas, in Italy, Poland and Azerbaijan.

Deja is a member of Athletes Unlimited’s Player Executive Committee … has two brothers and one sister … graduated from Penn State with a degree in communications.

2021 Season: Appeared in 44 sets over 15 matches during inaugural season … sixth in the league with 3,127 leaderboard points … fashioned second-highest single-match total with 435 leaderboard points against Team Hunter on Mar. 22 … tied for seventh in Athletes Unlimited with 118 kills … ranked 10th in the league with 128 digs … earned 10 or more kills five times, including season-high 17 kills to open Week Two against Team Lowe … posted double-double with 11 kills and season-high 14 digs on Mar. 14 against Team Nwanebu … closed season with back-to-back double-digit kill performances … tallied 14 kills on Mar. 28 against Team De La Cruz … finished season with 13 kills and eight digs against Team King.

Four-time AVCA All-America selection for the Nittany Lions … earned First-Team notice as a sophomore along with a pair of Second-Team commendations … also garnered Third-Team distinction during senior season … three-time Volleyball Magazine All-America honoree … AVCA All-Region selection all four years … led Penn State to NCAA titles as a freshman and senior … named 2010 AVCA, Volleyball Magazine and Big Ten Freshman of the Year … four-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree … recognized as Most Outstanding Player at 2010 NCAA Championship … also named to NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team in 2013 … three-time pick on NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team … one of eight players in Penn State history with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs … stands sixth on Nittany Lions’ career list with 1,631 kills … also boasted 1,176 career digs … fifth in school history with 4,081 career attack attempts … ranks among Penn State’s all-time leaders with 1,872 career points (7th) and 494 career sets played (8th) … named 2013 Penn State Female Athlete of the Year.
